Now that Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler have announced their individual departures from American Idol, the show is reportedly in talks with Mariah Carey to join the judges’ panel. There are also rumours that original judge Randy Jackson will be stepping down from his role.
“They are in serious talks with Mariah and it’s very close to being a done deal,” a source said. “And they will move Randy into a more mentoring role.”
